An accident involving multiple cars tied up eastbound traffic Tuesday afternoon on the Long Island Expressway between the Melville and Dix Hills exits, the Suffolk Sheriff's office said.
Rescue vehicles and tow trucks were requested after the accident was reported at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.
