LIRR: Person killed by train in Sayville
A person was killed after being struck by an LIRR train in Sayville on Saturday night, an LIRR spokesman said.
Long Island Rail Road spokesman Aaron Donovan said the person was on the tracks and was hit near Cherry Lane about 9:35 p.m. Donovan said he had no other information.
He said the train involved originated in Montauk and was traveling west to Jamaica. That train and two others are stalled because of the incident and MTA police were at the scene at 10 p.m.
He said the other trains affected are the 9:23 p.m. train in Patchogue heading to Babylon and the 9:21 p.m. train in Babylon destined for Patchogue.
