A bank robber was dressed as a woman when he escaped with cash from a Smithtown bank Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

His note told a TD Bank teller that he wanted money and had a gun, according to detectives from the pattern crime unit. He took off about 4:05 p.m., possibly in a light-colored vehicle, heading west from the bank at 714 Nesconset Hwy., police said.
