A 20-year-old Bay Shore man was arrested and charged with stabbing two men Tuesday night on the grounds of a Commack elementary school, police said.
Clyde Ricks, of 1655 Stein Dr., was arrested by Suffolk County police officers responding to a 911 call as he tried to flee the scene of the stabbings, which police said occurred at 10:40 p.m. at Indian Hollow School on Kings Park Road. Police said the two victims, identified as Guy Derival and Nick Governale, both 19 and of Commack, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Derival suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and was admitted in stable condition, police said. Governale suffered nonlife-threatening stab wounds to his upper arm and hip, police said.
Police said the disturbance involved several people, but did not detail the nature of that disturbance or disclose how many others were involved.
Ricks was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday. The prosecution asked for bail to be set at $100,000, and Ricks' court-appointed attorney asked for "reasonable bail."
The presiding judge set bail at $50,000 cash, $150,000 bond and also issued an order of protection forbidding Ricks from contacting or communicating with either Derival or Governale.
Ricks faces charges of first-degree and second-degree assault. Last month, Ricks pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal trespassing and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Investigators ask anyone with information to call detectives at 631-854-8452 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
