A Farmingville man died Wednesday and a passenger was seriously injured when the driver lost control and the car went over a guardrail into a ravine, Suffolk police said.
Darrell Lacross, 26, of 63 Horizon View Dr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Patrick Baptiste, 26, of Virginia, was taken in serious condition to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.
Lacross was driving a 2013 Subaru BRZ north on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville about 2:40 p.m., police said, when it struck the guardrail on the east side, hit several trees and landed in a ravine near the Vietnam War Memorial.
Detectives asked that anyone with information about the crash contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
