A man in his 20s died Wednesday when he lost control of his 2013 Subaru and it went over a guardrail in Farmingville, Suffolk police said. The vehicle "went over a guardrail into a ravine by the Vietnam Memorial, near Bicycle Path in Farmingville," a Suffolk County police spokesman said. A Farmingville man died Wednesday and a passenger was seriously injured when the driver lost control and the car went over a guardrail into a ravine, Suffolk police said.

Darrell Lacross, 26, of 63 Horizon View Dr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Patrick Baptiste, 26, of Virginia, was taken in serious condition to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

Lacross was driving a 2013 Subaru BRZ north on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville about 2:40 p.m., police said, when it struck the guardrail on the east side, hit several trees and landed in a ravine near the Vietnam War Memorial.
