First responders located a man lost in the woods of Manorville Monday night, a chief with the Manorville Fire Department said.

The Manorville Fire Department was joined by police in the search for the unnamed 51-year-old man who was reported missing about 6:38 p.m. Monday night in Manorville Hills County Park, Second Assistant Chief Joe Rosario said.

"Manorville fire department found him in the woods and we had Manorville Ambulance with their ATV's come and pick him up," Rosario said. "The PD helicopter was overhead and located him."

Rosario said fire Lt. Glenn Ohlson and firefighters Riley Brennan and James Yerri drove through the woods in two "brush" trucks to locate the man.

"Two of the fireman got out of the truck and found the man walking in the woods underneath where PD aviation was," Rosario said.

Suffolk County Park Rangers were also on the scene, police said.

Rosario said it took about an hour after they arrived on scene to locate the man, who was taken to a hospital for observation. He said the man had cramped up and was unable able to walk.

The man had been hiking for about 4 hours when he got lost, but was able to assist first responders by giving GPS coordinates of his location, Rosario said.

On May 22, a man and his three sons got lost in the same park.

The West Babylon man and his three sons got lost in the 6,000-acre Manorville Hills County Park. The family was able to reach 911 just before the father’s cellphone battery died. Officers from the Seventh Precinct were able to locate the four after an hourlong search.
