Firefighters needed about two hours overnight into Friday morning to extinguish a blaze at a Medford condominium complex, Suffolk County fire officials said.
A spokesman for the Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services said there were no injuries after several units at the complex on Birchwood Road caught fire shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, three or four units were engulfed in flames, the spokesman said.
The fire was under control at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.
Fire departments from Medford, Farmingville, Coram, North Patchogue, Gordon Heights and Holtsville responded, along with ambulance companies from Patchogue and Medford, the spokesman said.
The Suffolk County police arson squad is investigating, a department spokeswoman said.
Police said the cause was undetermined as of Friday morning.
Six units were severely damaged by fire and six others by smoke and water damage, the police spokeswoman said.
