Several hundred people, many carrying candles, gathered last night at the spot in Patchogue where Marcelo Lucero was killed a year ago to mourn his death and call for an end to racial discrimination.
The vigil marking the anniversary of an attack that generated controversy as far away as his hometown of Gualaceo, Ecuador, was imbued with a theme of seeking peace.
