To allow for bridge repair work, two of three travel lanes of the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Babylon will be closed overnight from Sunday through next Friday, weather permitting, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The closures will allow for scaffolding to be built at the Belmont Avenue and Little East Neck Road bridges, the DOT said Friday.

Westbound closures will be between Deer Park Avenue/Route 231 at Exit 39 and Wellwood Avenue at Exit 35, between midnight and 5 a.m. After the westbound work is completed, the eastbound lanes will be closed between New Highway at Exit 34 and Belmont Avenue at Exit 37, between midnight and 6 a.m.
