A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a vehicle in Wading River early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said. Police said Nicholas Pieloch, 20, of Rocky Point, was walking on Route 25A at 3:18 a.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Ford Explorer that was traveling west. A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a vehicle in Wading River early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Nicholas Pieloch, 20, of Rocky Point, was walking on Route 25A at 3:18 a.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Ford Explorer that was traveling west.

The vehicle then crossed over the eastbound lane, struck a tree and overturned, police said.

Pieloch was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver, Jesse Feinberg, 21, of Shoreham, was not injured. Police said it appeared that Pieloch was not walking on the shoulder and had been in the roadway.

Police impounded the vehicle for a safety check and are continuing their investigation. Police ask anyone with information about this case to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
