A Brentwood man was arrested early Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Saturday night.

Suffolk Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives said they arrested Fredy Pavon, 47, of Brentwood, after locating his damaged car. He is charged him with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting a fatality.

Police said Pavon struck Santos Amaya, 31, of Central Islip, as he walked across Islip Avenue, just south of Sage Street in Brentwood about 10 p.m. Saturday. Amaya was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
