Police: Couple hurt as car crashes into CVS

A couple in their 70s were both injured Sunday evening when, police said, he crashed into the front of a CVS pharmacy on Route 25A in Wading River as his wife was exiting the store.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. when Ronald Kucinski, 78, lost control of his 1997 Mercury, Riverhead Town police said. Kucinski and his wife, Joan, 74, were transported by the Wading River Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Police said Joan Kucinski was just exiting the CVS when her husband crashed into the building, striking the front doors. Video from the scene showed damage to the doors and to brick work.

Police said Joan Kucinski was injured by falling debris.

No charges were filed.
