Lewis Ofti, 79, was driving a 2016 Tacoma pickup truck west on Montauk Highway and the driver of a 2002 Toyota sedan, Sally Hodge, 74, was going south on Vail Avenue and making a left when the accident happened, Ralph said.

“She was making a left and failed to yield the right of way to the Tacoma,” Ralph said. “She turned in front of him and struck him.”

Ralph said Hodge was airlifted by Southampton police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital and Ofti was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by ambulance.

Hodge was in serious condition and Ofti’s injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, Ralph said.
