An early morning fire caused what police called "extensive damage" to a portion of a house in Centereach on Tuesday.

Suffolk County police said no injuries were reported, but said a young woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital after medical equipment was destroyed in the blaze.

The fire at the home on Catalina Court was reported in a 911 call at 12:34 a.m. Volunteers from Centereach, Selden, Farmingville and Ronkonkoma responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
