Police are investigating an act of vandalism in North Babylon, after 49 windows at an elementary school were broken either Saturday or Sunday.

The vandalism occurred at the Parliament Place Elementary School, Suffolk County police said Monday. Police said it was not clear when the windows were broken -- or why.

It does not appear that the building was burglarized, police said.

Calls to the school seeking comment were not immediately returned Monday.
