Probe into possible dump site in Islandia

Six homes on a cul-de-sac in Islandia that just a year ago were hailed as the first affordable houses built for returning war veterans are now being investigated as a possible illegal dump site in the Town of Islip. Soil at the 3.5-acre subdivision off Motor Parkway is to be tested for contaminants after investigators learned that companies associated with the Datre family -- which is linked to the criminal probe at Roberto Clemente Park in Brentwood -- were involved in the project, sources said.
