Public hearing on Smithtown budget tonight
Smithtown will hold a public hearing on its 2010 budget at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Center, 420 Middle Country Rd., Smithtown.
The budget was reduced by $3.3 million, reflecting a $15.62 decrease in taxes for an average home assessed at $6,000. Each household will also see a $10 annual reduction in its refuse collection taxes.
