Chalk it up to good timing, good luck or both, but those early June rains that washed away pumpkin crops in other parts of the country, specifically New England, didn't have the same effect on Long Island.

New England's pumpkin crop, according to some reports, will be down significantly. Several upstate growers - as well as some in Illinois and Pennsylvania - were hurt by a wetter-than-usual...
