A Florida man cut two police officers with a saw blade when they ordered him to leave a Riverhead hotel lobby, police said.

Hotel staff called police shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday about an unruly person in the lobby, who was not a guest at the Hyatt Place hotel at 451 E. Main St. in Riverhead, Riverhead Police said.

Officers confronted Robert Alan Vescio, 45, of Inglewood, Florida, who refused to leave and reached into his backpack while threatening officers, police said. Vescio pulled out a reciprocating saw blade and sliced two of the officers, police said. He struggled with officers until he was arrested, police said. He was charged with trespassing and two counts of assault.

The two officers were treated for minor injuries at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Vescio was arraigned and booked at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $50,000.
