Firefighters from four departments battled a basement fire that damaged a home in Shirley late Thursday, officials said.

Suffolk County police said Arson Squad detectives are investigating the cause of the fire and said they have not ruled out it may be electrical.

Volunteers from Mastic, Mastic Beach, Brookhaven and Center Moriches fought the fire, a Suffolk fire official said.

Crews from two ambulance companies also responded, but officials said all occupants had safely evacuated the home -- and there were no injuries.
