Suffolk opens a beach, closes lake to bathing
Suffolk County has reopened Tanner Park Beach but closed Lake Ronkonkoma in Islip to bathing Humayun J. Chaudhry, the Suffolk health commissioner, announced Thursday that the beach closure issued for Tanner Park Beach in Copiague has been rescinded after water tested within acceptable levels. The lake has been closed to bathing, however, because bacterial levels in water exceeded acceptable criteria....
