Suffolk Police Commissioner Edward Webber is now a $287,991-a-year man.
Webber, 66, officially "retired" in October but returned to his job the next day. He'll receive a pension that totals $125,232 a year on top of his annual commissioner salary of $162,759.
Under state law, officials 65 and older can collect a pension and a full public salary.
The state comptroller's office computed Webber's final average annual salary at $220,124 for his last three years on the job, mainly as chief of support services. He was credited for 41 years in the pension system. Although those figures would indicate the commissioner qualified for a significantly higher pension, Webber had said he planned to take a pension option that included survivor benefits for his spouse.
