Suffolk County police said they are investigating a three-vehicle accident in Bohemia on Tuesday that seriously injured one of the drivers.

Police found that Thomas Morrelli, 65, of Patchogue had chest pains after the crash at Veterans Memorial Highway and Ocean Avenue; he was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Morrelli was driving a 2007 GMC sport utility vehicle in the right lane on Veterans Memorial Highway at about 11:50 p.m. when he "struck a 2007 Hyundai sedan driven by Melissa Molinari," police said.

Molinari's car then hit the rear of a 2013 Volvo tractor trailer driven by Thomas Gersic, 52, who was stopped at a red light at Ocean Avenue.

Police said Morrelli's GMC "spun around and ended up in the left lane facing southbound."

Molinari, 18, of Holbrook, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was treated for minor injuries.
