A truck driver caused an accident when he tried to make a U-turn in East Farmingdale Monday morning and a BMW plowed into him, Suffolk police said.

The BMW driver was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

The truck was going south on Wellwood Avenue about 9:40 a.m. when its driver tried to go the opposite direction, near Patton Avenue and St. Charles Cemetery, police said.

A BMW going north smashed into the side of the truck, police said.

Another driver trying to avoid the accident hit the curb, police said.

The truck driver and the second car's driver were not injured, police said.

The truck driver was issued two summonses, one for an illegal U-turn and the other for disobeying a traffic control device, police said.

Drivers' names were not released Monday evening.

Police said southbound Wellwood Avenue was closed at Conklin Avenue until about 1 p.m., mostly due to accident cleanup.
