A car carrier hauling Sandy-damaged vehicles from Speonk to Calverton on the Long Island Expressway struck the overpass at Wading River Road about 5 p.m. Friday, Suffolk police said.
A passing motorist called 911, police said, and the truck's driver, Bryan Williams, 51, of Williamsport, Pa., was issued two tickets -- one for being over height, and one for having three bald tires.
