This band is adding a new dimension to the idea of  “embedded reporters,”  who are known for joining military units on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Talking to Walls -- playing at 6 p.m. Thursday at Hot Topic in the Westfield Broadway Mall in Hicksville, and at Long Island Vinyl Exchange in East Northport at 8:45 p.m. --  is looking for a blogger / Tweeter / videographer to chronicle  band’s activities during a three-gig Memorial Day weekend tour.

The band is based in New Haven, Conn., but has strong ties to Long Island – lead singer and rhythm guitarist Brian Kelly is the brother of WBAB radio host Fingers, and has other immediate family living here.

“We’re a fun bunch of guys to hang out with,” said Kelly, who describes Talking to Walls as a rock band that blends the vibes of U2, Bruce Springsteen and Foo Fighters. “This is a way to for us to capture who we are as people.”

The Memorial Day weekend tour includes stops at Bowery Poetry Club in Manhattan on May 28, and at Rye Playland and the Scarsdale Teen Center on May 29.

Kelly said the blogger would get full access to the band and be entitled to  any perks band members get during the tour, including free access to Rye Playland.

Kelly said the person chosen could have an existing blog or work off the band’s own Web platforms, including its Twitter, MySpace and Facebook accounts.
