Actor, writer and director Ed Burns grew up in Valley Stream but spent part of his summers on the East End. "We'd go to Hither Hills, camp out for two weeks at the campground there and go [fishing] for midnight blues out of Montauk," he said while attending the East Hampton Library's Author's Night on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. But it wasn't all fun. "I worked with a landscaper out here, so every summer I landscaped," he said about summer breaks from college. "I cleaned pools, I bused tables, and I lived behind an auto-parts store."(Credit: John Roca)
