There’s a new Long Island Sound skipper.

The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday appointed Capt. Joseph Vojvodich to command the agency’s operations covering the waters between Long Island and Connecticut.

Gaining the ranks of commander of Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound and captain of the Port of Long Island Sound, Vojvodich most recently served at the Coast Guard headquarters in Washington.

A change of command ceremony was held Monday in New Haven, Conn.

Vojvodich’s predecessor, Captain Daniel A. Ronan, retired after a 26-year career with the Coast Guard.
