Nassau and Suffolk police announced Tuesday that they made a combined 130 driving while intoxicated arrests over the Memorial Day weekend.

In Nassau, police counted 73 arrests made from 9 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m Tuesday.

Police said a beefed up number of patrols, thanks to a state “STOP DWI” campaign grant, contributed to the volume of arrests.

In Suffolk, police arrested 53 people on DWI charges from 3 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.
