Asharoken keeps option to exceed state tax cap

The Asharoken board of trustees passed a resolution to exceed the state tax levy cap as it prepares next year’s budget.
“The purpose of this is to have the flexibility to do what’s right for the village,” Mayor Gregory Letica said. “It doesn’t mean that we are going to do it.”
The board voted 4-0 with one abstention to pierce the cap for next year’s budget, if necessary.
