The Holiday Organization, which constructs homes and residential communities, plans tomorrow to donate nearly 100 acres of land to the Town of Brookhaven.

Town Councilman Dan Panico, a Republican who represents the sixth district, said the 98.8 acres at 333 William Floyd Pkwy. in Shirley, part of what was The Links at Shirley, will be used for recreational purposes.

At a news conference at the site tomorrow, the Long Island-based organization is also expected to donate $1 million for a recreational facility on the site.

The Holiday Organization donated nearly half of the 205 acres it owns at the site to the town as part of the application process to build two housing developments. The town requires “community benefits” as part of the application, but Panico’s office said the builder went “above and beyond” the requirements.

“This is a major victory for the community,” Panico said.
