Country fair opening on Longwood Estate
Saluting its historical heritage, Brookhaven will host its 32nd annual country fair on Saturday and Sunday at the Longwood Estate at Longwood Road and Smith Road in Ridge.
The fair will feature Irish step dancing, traditional music and crafts, vendors, food, Katie’s Puppet Show, pony rides, an apron and quilt show, as well as music by the Ed Travers Band and the Harbormen Barber Shop Chorus.
Re-enactments of the Revolutionary and Civil wars will be featured. But in a modern twist, the fair’s stage will have solar power.
Kids who bring their American Girl dolls can enter a contest to win a new outfit for the dolls.
The fair, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, is free for children under 12, $1 for seniors, and $2 for general admission.
Parking is free, and shuttle service is available.
