Democrat Al Krupski spent, and won, in special election

The newest Suffolk County legislator, Al Krupski, a former Southold Democratic town board member, spent three times more than Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter in winning a special election last month with 67 percent of the vote, campaign finance reports show.
