A petition for a change of zone and rescission of restrictive covenants to build housing and commercial space on a 143.5-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Old Country Road and Round Swamp Road will be the subject of an Oyster Bay Town board hearing April 29.

The special night hearing will be at H.B. Matlin Middle School, 100 Washington Ave., in Plainview, at 7 p.m.

The developers -- Plainview Properties SPE Llc and Beechwood POB Llc -- are seeking site plan approval, a change of zone, and rescission of a declaration of restrictive covenants to build 890 housing units and 114,330 square feet of commercial space. About  44 acres would be dedicated to the town for park use.

The applicants are seeking rezoning of portions of the site from office-business and one-family residences to RMF-16 Multi-Family Residence, RSC-25 Multi-Family Senior Residence and General Business.
