Drug 'Take-Back Day' in Nassau Saturday
Nassau County will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the third year in a row in its National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to safely shed their unwanted medications, including any unused or expired prescription drugs,” County Executive Edward Mangano said in a statement. “Studies indicate that 70 percent of adolescents who went on to abuse prescription drugs obtained them originally from their family or a neighbor's medicine cabinet.”
Unwanted prescription drugs can be brought Saturday and every day to any Nassau County police precinct or policing center. Unwanted drugs will also be collected at Saturday’s event at city and village police departments and area hospitals.
