Edward Mangano's car show and parade Sunday
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano’s 3rd Annual “Cruise to the Show” Parade and Car Show will be held on Sunday.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage, head south on Stewart Avenue to Hempstead Turnpike and continue to Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. More than 1,000 vehicles of all makes, models and years will follow the parade route, and spectators are encouraged to watch them drive by. Staging begins at 8 a.m.
The show at Eisenhower Park will feature displays by the Nassau County Firefighters Museum, the Cradle of Aviation and the Long Island Children’s Museum, as well as food and entertainment for the entire family. There will be vehicles from all segments of motorsports on display.
The show will also include an autograph session with famed car customizer George Barris, more than 50 vendors from the motorsports industry and special appearances by the cast of "Carfellas," four NHRA Pro Mod Teams and Neil Tjin of "The Tjin Edition Road Show."
Judges will award trophies to winners from different car categories. In addition, Mangano will award trophies in the following areas: The County Executive Cup (The Best in Show), The First Lady's Trophy, Car Show Committee Favorite, Diamond in the Rough and Best Rat Rod.
During the car show, rock guitarist, saxophonist and singer-songwriter Eddie Money will perform a free concert at 3 p.m. at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in the park.
The registration fee for the car show is $25 if space permits. There is no fee to participate in the cruise, and spectator admission is free to Nassau residents.
