Farmers, artists will sell wares together
In Long Beach, farmers and artists used to hold markets in front of City Hall on different days during the summer.
This year, the schedule has changed. Now, the farmers market takes place on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the artists and farmers are both on the Kennedy Plaza in front of City Hall on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Long Beach — which has been holding the combined market for several weeks — has beaten downtown Riverhead to become the first locality to hold a combined artists and farmers market this summer.
The city will hold a separate Boardwalk Arts and Crafts Festival on July 13, 14 and 15.
Riverhead’s East End Arts is still lining up artists to display their works at a farmers market held on Saturdays behind the stores on East Main Street. A separate farmers market — selling only farm goods — is also held in Riverhead on Thursdays, at the other end of the parking lot.
