Hempstead Turnpike reopened after gas leak, police say

Hempstead Turnpike has reopened in both directions at Hamlet Road in Levittown after it was closed for nearly two hours because of a gas leak, according to Nassau County police.

Police announced the closure shortly before 11:30 a.m. and said the road reopened at about 1:15 p.m.
