Hempstead Village OKs $1.13M for various cleanups
The Hempstead Village board approved four bids earlier this week totaling nearly $1.13 million to clean and replace catch basins, sewage pipelines and water mains.
The board voted during Tuesday’s meeting to accept a bid from Roadwork Ahead Inc., of Westbury, for $373,600 to clean, reconstruct and replace stormwater catch basins at various streets throughout the village.
A bid for $386,200 from Earth Repair Llc, of Manorville, was also approved. The company will clean, inspect, repair and rehabilitate sewage pipelines in several locations.
Orchid Sewer & Water Contracting Corp., of Garden City Park, won two bids. The company will replace water mains and valves for $139,875. It also received an extension of its contract for 2010-11 to replace water mains and valves for $227,525.
The board also accepted a $291,000 IMPACT IX grant, from the state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services, on behalf of the village police department. The grant will be used for law enforcement purposes.
