Long Islanders who usually use the Long Island Expressway may be scrambling to find another route.

The blizzard warning has prompted Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to close the LIE in both directions beginning at midnight. A decision on whether to reopen the road will be made early Friday morning.

As of now the Northern State Parkway and the Southern State Parkway will remain open as possible alternate routes. Another option is the Long Island Rail Road, but even its schedule may be modified depending on the storm’s severity.

The MTA has a list of potential modified schedules on its website, and will post which one it is going to use should it be needed. Check out the schedules at http://bit.ly/1goAH2i.

If you’re able to take a train, you still may need a connecting bus. For Nassau NICE Bus, a list of connections to the Long Island Rail Road are available at http://bit.ly/KjYju4. Suffolk County’s transit schedule is available at http://bit.ly/1bB8obF.
