Islandia mayor, 2 trustees to seek re-election

The mayor and two members of the board of trustees in Islandia are running for re-election on March 19, officials said Tuesday.

Voting will take place at Village Hall, 1100 Old Nichols Rd., from noon to 9 p.m.

Mayor Allan M. Dorman and Trustees Diane Olk and Michael Zaleski, all of whom are members of the Volunteers of Islandia party, are running for re-election. Village officials said no one had yet filed an intention to challenge the incumbents. The deadline is Feb. 20.

Dorman and Olk were first elected in 2005; Zaleski was elected in 2008.

The board also voted for the village to not hold a voter-registration drive in 2013.

“We actually found that to not be beneficial,” Dorman said. “Nobody comes. It costs money. Most people get registered with the county.”
