Lindenhurst oil tank removal fee raised

The Village of Lindenhurst was founded by Thomas

The Village of Lindenhurst was founded by Thomas and Abbey Wellwood in 1870. The town had been known as Wellwood until that year, when it was named Breslau after the hometown of its German settlers. The Village of Lindenhurst is raising fees on residential oil tank removal.

The fee will increase from $35 per tank to $75 per tank. The village board approved the increase at last week’s board meeting.

Village Clerk-Treasurer Shawn Cullinane said the reason for the increase is that removal of oil tanks is a time-consuming process that requires multiple inspections by village plumbing inspector John Hosey. The new fees took effect March 1.
