Lindenhurst Sandy-relief effort Camp Bulldog closing
Camp Bulldog, the grassroots effort to help victims of superstorm Sandy in Lindenhurst Village, is closing its doors on Sunday.
The organization is having a ceremony at 3 p.m. in Shore Road Park to thank the dozens of volunteers and hundreds of organizations and businesses that gave donations. The ceremony will feature village and Babylon Town officials, as well as a performance by the Albany Avenue Elementary School’s fifth- and sixth-grade chorus.
Camp Bulldog was one of the longest-running and most successful post-Sandy volunteer relief efforts on Long Island. The organization began its work in the days after Sandy hit, offering hot food to residents impacted by the storm. Since then, the camp has provided meals, supplies, information and assistance to those trying to rebuild their homes.
