Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano joined Legis. Rose Walker (R-Hicksville) and RXR Realty chief executive Scott Rechler on Friday to announce the 2013 RXR Long Island Marathon Weekend, May 3-5.

The marathon has grown to include a full and half-marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-mile run, and Kids Fun Run.

“The Long Island Marathon is one of the Island’s most exciting events, and I am pleased to once again team up with the community of runners and RXR,” Mangano said at his Mineola headquarters. “As part of our FitNassau Initiative, I encourage everyone to use this opportunity to become physically active and participate.”

The last race of the day, The Kids Fun Run, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on the Mitchel track.

The marathon, half-marathon and 10K run take place Sunday, May 5.
