DEVELOPING

PHONE SCAM IN SOUTHAMPTON. The Southampton Town Police have received several reports of a phone scam. The caller identifies himself as John Anderson. He then informs the victim that he has several warrants with the Internal Revenue Service for fraud and requests a wire transaction of $10,000. The phone number used is 202-239-6960. Do not give personal information or send money to anyone who calls you, police said.

Partly cloudy with a high of 28 degrees and a wind chill as low as 14 degrees. 

SNOWSTORM EXPECTED TO DUMP 2 to 8 INCHESThe storm is poised to strike Wednesday night into Thursday morning; a winter storm watch is in effect from midnight Wednesday through 6 a.m. Friday. There is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulation on Long Island.
