Lottery to begin for deer hunting permits

The East Hampton Town clerk will begin accepting applications for the town’s deer hunting lottery Saturday.

All lottery applications must be filed by 4 p.m. Dec. 21 to be eligible for the drawing.

Winners will receive permission to hunt on selected town-owned properties, including part of the 500-acre Grace Estate in the Northwest Harbor section of the town.

Deer hunting season begins at sunrise Jan. 7 and runs through sunset Jan. 31, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

Town properties where hunting is permitted will be posted showing their restricted use during the deer season.
