Massapequa Park fills vacancy on planning board

Massapequa Park is an incorporated village in the Town of Oyster Bay on the South Shore of Long Island in Nassau County. The village has a population of 17,008, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. (July 21, 2012) (Credit: Brittany Wait)

The Massapequa Park Village Board on Monday night appointed William Colfer to fill a vacancy on the planning commission.

The board also scheduled a hearing on increasing the commission from five to seven members. Mayor Jeffrey Pravato said the board feels it would be easier to obtain a quorum with a larger planning commission.

Colfer fills the commission seat vacated when Richard Begandy resigned in July after he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the village board. That opening was created by Pravato being named mayor to fill the vacancy created when James Altadonna Jr. was appointed Oyster Bay Town clerk.
