Nassau Legislator Carrié Solages to host workshop for business owners

Nassau County Legis. Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) is presenting a workshop Thursday to provide local business owners with strategies to build their businesses.

The workshop, “Empower Your Business,” will be at the Elmont Public Library, 700 Hempstead Tpke., from 6 to 8 p.m.

Following the workshop, there will be an overview of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, which is designed for business owners to gain practical skills in contract leadership development, negotiation, marketing, accounting and human resource management. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how to apply for a program that begins in June at LaGuardia Community College.

Solages is offering the workshop to business owners within his Third District and surrounding communities who meet the following criteria: owner or co-owner of business; business in operation for at least two years; business revenues between $150,000 and $4 million; and business has a minimum of four employees.

There is room for 50 participants, and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested business owners must RSVP by calling legislative aide Derek Lawrence at 516-571-6203 or by email at dlawrence@nassaucountyny.gov.
