New Hyde Park board authorizes itself to exceed cap

The Village of New Hyde Park board authorized itself to pierce the state’s 2 percent cap on property taxes during a public meeting Tuesday evening.

Robert Lofaro, the deputy mayor who is running to replace the retiring mayor, Daniel Petruccio, explained the vote was precautionary.
