North Bellmore school district superintendent Arnold Goldstein will be a guest speaker at the North Bellmore Civic Association meeting Monday night to talk about the district’s proposed $50.5 million budget for 2013-14 and the upcoming elections.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in North Bellmore Public Library, 1551 Newbridge Rd. The meeting room has a capacity of 150 people.

Assistant superintendent of business Mark Schissler will join Goldstein to talk about the school budget and how the budget figures were reached. He will also answer questions. The upcoming budget vote takes place Tuesday, May 21.

The district’s proposed budget is a 4.98 percent increase over the current budget. The local tax levy would rise 2.5 percent, which is within the state’s tax-cap limit of 4.20 percent.
